I am a visual journalist pursuing a photojournalism degree with a communications minor from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a professional journalism certification from NYU. I am comfortable working in various mediums; photography, video, text, and audio.
My interest in photojournalism stems from my deep curiosity. Journalism opens doors into the fascinating lives of people, allowing me to use my skills to elevate the voices of those I document.
I attended the 2024 Eddie Adams workshop, at the workshop I received the Family Colton award for "a student who embodies the spirit of the workshop, displaying hard work, determination, and strong sense of community" and was invited back as a member of the Black Team.
I also attended the 2024 Mountain Workshops for photography in Williamsburg Kentucky.
I concentrate on building character-driven stories no matter the medium I choose. The person at the story's heart is what makes it tick and touches the audience. I am interested in important social issues such as substance use disorder, stigmatization, and less conventional communities like independent pro wrestling, the unhoused, and hardcore punk. Stories about exploration and travel are also close to my heart. I spent several years backpacking across the United States, hiking roughly 6000 miles, on our national scenic trails, and traveling in my homemade camper van, "VANilla". I developed an interest in and understanding of politics and international affairs, as I competed on a national debate team and was the Texas state debate champion. Growing up on a wheat farm and cattle ranch in Kansas and then moving and spending most of my life in Texas as a working mechanic, I deeply understand and am interested in "blue-collar" communities. I am curious and relish the chance to tell unique and meaningful stories no matter where they may lie.
I am currently located in Rochester New York and will travel
